Pau Donés Cirera (born October 11, 1966 – died June 9, 2020) was a famous Spanish musician. He was a songwriter, guitarist, and singer. Pau was best known as the leader of the band Jarabe de Palo. This band was from Barcelona, Spain.

About Pau Donés

Pau Donés grew up in the city of Barcelona. He received his very first guitar when he was 12 years old. This started his journey into music.

With his brother Marc, Pau formed his first band. They called it J. & Co. Band. Later, they created another band named Dentaduras Postizas. Pau was very busy during these years. He performed concerts, worked in advertising, and studied economics.

In 1996, Pau Donés started the band Jarabe de Palo. Their first album was called La Flaca. It became very popular in Spain. This happened after one of their songs was used in a TV advertisement. In 2008, Pau started his own music company. He named it Tronco Records.

Pau continued to create new music. In 2017, he released a book and a double album. It was called 50 palos because he was turning 50. He went on a tour in Spain and the United States to celebrate. In 2018, he released a live album. This album featured the Costa Rican Philharmonic Orchestra. It was named Jarabe Filarmónico. His band released their last album, Tragas o escupes, in May 2020.

Pau's Family and Health

Pau Donés had a daughter named Sara. He loved her very much. Because he was often touring with his band, he sometimes missed parts of her childhood.

In 2015, Pau shared some sad news. He had to cancel his concerts because he had colorectal cancer. He had an operation to treat it.

In 2016, Pau announced that he was feeling better. However, his illness returned a year later. Pau Donés passed away from cancer on June 9, 2020. He was 53 years old.
