Paul Maurice Murphy (born February 24, 1932 – died January 22, 2020) was an important American politician and judge from Massachusetts. He spent many years serving his state, first as a lawmaker and later as a judge.
Early Life and Education
Paul Maurice Murphy was born in Brockton, Massachusetts. His father, Maurice J. Murphy, was also a judge. His mother was Edith Saxton Murphy.
Paul went to Williams College, a well-known school. While he was there, he enjoyed playing baseball. After college, he studied law at Boston University School of Law. He also served his country as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force.
A Career in Politics
Paul Maurice Murphy was elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives. This is where laws are made for the state of Massachusetts. He served as a state representative for many years, from 1961 to 1974.
