Early Life and Education
Paula Bonet was born in Vila-real, a city in Spain. From a young age, she loved drawing as a way to express herself. When she was 14, Paula joined a drawing academy in her hometown. This was the beginning of her journey to becoming a professional artist.
After finishing high school, Paula decided to study Fine Arts. Many of her family and friends suggested other careers. However, Paula was determined to follow her passion. At 17, she was accepted into the Polytechnic University of Valencia to study Fine Arts.
Studying Abroad and Career Start
After university, Paula wanted to learn more about art from different places. She traveled to Santiago, Chile, and studied at the PUC for four months. Then, she received a scholarship and went to New York. There, she studied at NYU for six months.
Since she was 25, Paula has often traveled to Urbino, Italy, during the summer. She takes special short courses there to improve her skills. She believed that studying in different countries would help her discover new ideas and influences.
Becoming a Full-Time Artist
For four years, Paula worked as a teacher in a school in Valencia, Spain. At the same time, she was also working as an illustrator. It was hard to do both jobs well. So, she decided to focus completely on illustration.
After five months, she moved to Barcelona. This city has a lively art scene, which was perfect for her. Today, Paula gets new job offers almost every day. Many people learned about her art through word-of-mouth. Most of her fans are girls and women.
