Pauline Baumann was born in London in 1899. She was one of six children. Her father was a tailor from Prussia, and her mother was English.
Her Art Education
Pauline went to school in Wimbledon. After that, she decided to study art. She first attended the Saint Martin's School of Art. Then, from 1923 to 1927, she studied at the famous Royal College of Art.
Her Career as an Artist and Teacher
After finishing her studies, Pauline Baumann stayed in London. She worked as an art teacher in different places. At the same time, she kept creating her own art. She was a painter, but she also made many prints. She used special techniques like etching and engraving to create her prints. These methods involve carving designs into metal plates to make pictures.
Exhibitions and Recognition
Pauline Baumann showed her artwork often. From 1929 to 1968, she regularly displayed her pieces at the Royal Academy in London. This was a very important place for artists.
