Pauline Murray was born in Dublin, Ireland, on August 30, 1922. She passed away in Kington, Herefordshire, England, on December 31, 1994. Pauline was a nurse and sometimes an actress.

She is best known for playing the main character, Nurse Pauline, in the 1966 British film It Happened Here. This movie tells a made-up story about what England might have been like in 1944-1945 if Germany had taken control during World War II.

About Pauline Murray

Early Life and Nursing

Pauline Murray trained as a nurse during World War II. She worked in Manchester, England, helping people who were sick or injured.

In 1950, she married Dr. Richard Jobson. He was a doctor in New Radnor, a town close to the border of Wales. Dr. Jobson passed away in 1978.

Acting Career

In 1957, something interesting happened at an award ceremony in London. Kevin Brownlow, who was a writer and director, met Pauline's husband. Kevin was working on his film It Happened Here.

A film journalist named Derek Hill suggested Pauline for a role in the movie. He thought she would be perfect, even though she had not acted in films before.

However, it seems Pauline had acted once before. She appeared in a Danish film called Støt står den danske sømand in 1948. In that movie, she played an English maid named Marion. This film told the true story of Danish sailors who helped the Allied forces during World War II.

After her role in It Happened Here, Pauline Murray did not act in any more films. But she still enjoyed performing in plays for her local village.
