Pavillon de l'Arsenal

The Pavillon de l'Arsenal is a special place in Paris, France. It's like a big center where you can learn all about how Paris is built and how it changes over time. It's also a museum! You can find it in the 4th area of Paris, at 21, boulevard Morland. It's open every day except Mondays, and the best part is, it's free to visit!

History of the Pavillon de l'Arsenal

The building where the museum is now was built a long time ago, between 1878 and 1879. It was made for a man named Laurent-Louis Borniche, who was a wood merchant and also loved to paint. His building was near a very old site where monks used to live, which later became a place to store weapons, called an arsenal.

How the Museum Started

In 1988, this building became what it is today: a center for learning and showing exhibitions about how cities are planned and how buildings are designed in Paris. This is called urban planning and architecture.

What You Can See and Do

Today, the Pavillon de l'Arsenal does many cool things. It has different exhibitions that you can explore. It also publishes helpful books about what daily life is like for people living in Paris.

Exploring Parisian Architecture

The museum is also a place where people who plan cities and build things can meet and share ideas. It has a huge permanent exhibit that covers 800 square meters. This exhibit shows you all about Parisian architecture and how the city has grown and changed over many years.

Special Exhibitions and Topics

Besides the main exhibit, there are three other areas for special, temporary shows. These shows cover different topics. For example, you might see exhibits about homes in Paris, or how the city looked when Baron Haussmann made big changes to it. They also show plans for future projects in Paris and other interesting buildings from France and around the world.
