Paytes is a small community located in Spotsylvania County, which is in the state of Virginia in the United States. It's not a city or town with its own local government, but a place where people live and connect. You can find Paytes where two roads meet: Lawyer's Road (also known as Route 601) and Catharpin Road (Route 608). There's an electric power station at this spot. In 2001, a cell phone tower was built here to help people get better phone service in the area.
From this main intersection, Paytes stretches east along Catharpin Road. This road eventually splits into two different paths. One path is West Catharpin Road, which keeps the name Route 608 and goes east towards Spotsylvania Courthouse. The other path is Post Oak Road (Route 606), which also goes east towards Post Oak. At Post Oak, you'll find Spotsylvania High School and Post Oak Middle School.

Craig's Baptist Church is a community center located near the intersection of Catharpin Road and Craig's Church Lane (Route 684). This church is between the main intersection of Lawyer's Road and Catharpin Road to the west, and where Catharpin Road splits into two roads to the east.
Near where Catharpin Road splits, there's a store and gas station called Keystone Grocery. This store is located at 14008 West Catharpin Road. For a long time, this store was known as Baker's Store. Its name and management changed in 1999.

Granite Springs stretches north along Lawyers Road and Granite Springs Road (Route 680) until these roads meet again. A creek called Plentiful Creek flows through this area and eventually reaches Lake Anna.
