Paz de Ariporo is located in the eastern part of Colombia. It is part of the Orinoquía Region. This area is known for its wide plains and beautiful natural landscapes.

The town sits at an elevation of about 340 meters (1,115 feet) above sea level. In 2018, about 34,446 people lived in the municipality. This includes both the town and the surrounding rural areas.

History of the Town
Paz de Ariporo has an interesting history. It was once known by a different name.
Early Days as Moreno
In 1856, the town was called Moreno. At that time, it was very important. It even served as the capital of the Casanare Province. A famous artist named Manuel María Paz painted a watercolor of the main square in Moreno during this period. This painting shows us what the town looked like long ago.
