Meadow, also known as Peacock's Crossroads, is a small place in Johnston County, North Carolina, United States. It's called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own local government like a town or city. Instead, it's part of the larger county. Meadow is located where two main roads, North Carolina Highway 96 and North Carolina Highway 50, meet. This area is about 200 feet (61 meters) above sea level.
Exploring Meadow's Past
The Story of Meadow School
Meadow has an interesting history, especially linked to a person named John William Wood Sr.. He was an important figure in the community. Mr. Wood owned a lot of land in the area known as Peacock's Crossroads.
He generously decided to donate some of his land. This land was used to build the original Meadow School. This school became a central part of the community for many years, helping to educate local children.
