Pedro de Répide Gallegos loved to write about everyday life in Madrid. This style of writing is called costumbrismo. He wrote about the city's customs, traditions, and hidden spots. He hardly wrote about anything else.

One of his books was a biography called Isabel II, reina de España (Isabel II, Queen of Spain). But even this book was mostly a way for him to describe Madrid's celebrations, ceremonies, and special "corners." Many of his writings were first printed in different newspapers and magazines.
