Pedro de Villegas Marmolejo (born 1519, died 1596) was a talented Spanish artist. He lived during the exciting Renaissance period, a time when art, science, and new ideas flourished. Pedro was both a sculptor, who created amazing statues, and a painter, who made beautiful pictures.
He was born in the city of Seville, Spain. Pedro learned how to paint by studying the works of artists from Rome (in Italy) or Flanders (a region in Europe). These artists had different styles, and Pedro learned from the best to develop his own unique way of creating art.

Art in Seville Cathedral
One of his most well-known paintings is called Visitation to Elizabeth. This large painting can be found in the grand Seville Cathedral in Spain. It shows a scene from the Bible where Mary visits her cousin Elizabeth. This painting is similar in style to the works of another artist named Pedro Campaña.
Inside the same cathedral, in the side parts of an altar, you can find more of Pedro's smaller paintings. These include:
