Early Life and Family
Peggy Moran was born in Clinton, Iowa. Her father, Earl Moran, was an artist. He was known for creating pictures for calendars and magazines. Peggy's mother was a dancer before she got married. She stopped dancing to focus on her family. After Peggy finished high school in 1937, she and her mother moved to the western United States.
Her Acting Career
Peggy Moran started her acting career at Warner Bros. in the late 1930s. She appeared in many different films. Some of these were "B movies," which are films made with a smaller budget. Her notable "B movies" include The Mummy's Hand (1940), Slightly Tempted (1940), and Horror Island (1941). She also acted in Treat 'Em Rough (1942) and King of the Cowboys (1943).
Peggy also had smaller roles in bigger, more famous movies. For example, she played the "first cigarette girl" in Ninotchka (1939).
On October 30, 1942, Peggy married director Henry Koster. After they were married, Peggy stopped acting in movies. She appeared in only one more film, which was a documentary made in 2000. Interestingly, a special statue of Peggy was featured in every movie her husband directed after they married.
