Before becoming an actress, Peggy Rea went to business school. She worked as a secretary at a big movie studio called Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in the 1940s. Later, she helped a writer and musician named Kay Thompson. Peggy got her first acting job in a play called A Streetcar Named Desire. She played a character named Eunice Hubbell.
Becoming a TV Star
Peggy Rea appeared in many popular TV shows. You might know some of them! She was in I Love Lucy, Bonanza, and Gunsmoke. She also appeared in The Golden Girls and MacGyver. She was even in All in the Family and The Odd Couple.

Rose Burton in The Waltons
Peggy also joined the cast of The Waltons. She played Rose Burton, a cousin of Olivia Walton. Her character became like a parent figure on the show. She stayed with the series until 1981. Peggy even came back for a special Waltons reunion TV movie in 1993.
After The Waltons, Peggy Rea continued acting. She was a regular on Step By Step from 1991 to 1992. She also appeared on Grace Under Fire for many years in the 1990s.

Later Life and Passing
Peggy Rea passed away on February 5, 2011. She was 89 years old. She died in Toluca Lake, California, from heart failure.
