Penbrook is a small town, called a "borough," in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, USA. It was started in 1861 and officially became a borough on July 10, 1894. Penbrook used to be called East Harrisburg and still shares a ZIP code with Harrisburg.
In 2020, about 3,268 people lived there. Penbrook is also part of a larger area around Harrisburg and Carlisle.

Penbrook's Location and Size
Penbrook is found in the southern part of Dauphin County. It is right next to the city of Harrisburg on its south side.
The borough covers about 1.16 square kilometers (0.45 square miles) of land. There is no water area within the borough.

Penbrook Park: A Place to Play
Penbrook Park is a large outdoor area that covers 8.5 acres. It has many things to do, like ball fields and basketball courts. There is also a big wooden play structure for kids. You can find a snack stand and a picnic area there too.
This park is connected to the Capital Area Greenbelt. This is a 20-mile path that links to other parks, including Riverfront Park.
Little Valley Park: From Landfill to Fun
Little Valley Park is 1.5 acres big. It was given to the community in 1960 by S. Merl Mosby. He turned an old landfill into a park by bringing in over 2,000 loads of dirt!
This park has a ball field and a play area with a large purple dinosaur. It also has baseball and basketball courts. Little Valley Park is close to East Harrisburg Cemetery and the St. Margaret Mary school.
Nearby Reservoir Park
Reservoir Park is a huge 85-acre park right next to Penbrook. It has the Levitt Performing Arts Pavilion, where shows are held. You can also find the National Civil War Museum there.
Since 1952, the Penbrook Athletic Association has helped organize sports and fun activities for the community.

Penbrook School's History
The Penbrook School first opened in 1901. It had additions built in the 1930s and 1950s. At first, it taught students all the way through 12th grade. Later, it only taught up to 10th grade. Older students then went to John Harris High School or Susquehanna Township High School.
In 1955, the school became part of the new Central Dauphin School District. The building was used as an elementary school until 1982. Today, it is home to Infinity Charter School. Former students have reunions there every two years.
St. Margaret Mary Parish School
St. Margaret Mary Parish School is a Catholic school. It was started in March 1948. The School Sisters of Notre Dame were the first teachers there.
The school building has been expanded many times. Additions were made in 1958, 1985, 2000, and 2011. In 2009, programs for 3-year-olds and Pre-K were added. After a new church was built, the old church became a gym and multi-purpose area for the school and church community.
