About Penni Russon
Penni Russon was born in Tasmania, Australia, in 1974. She loved learning about books. She studied children's literature at Monash University. She also learned about professional writing and editing at RMIT University. Before writing novels, she worked as a freelance editor. She also wrote poems.
Her First Books
In 2004, Penni Russon's first novel, Undine, was published. It was a finalist for the Aurealis Award for best young-adult novel. This award celebrates the best fantasy and science fiction books. In 2005, she released Breathe, which was the sequel to Undine. This book received a special mention at the 2005 Aurealis Awards. She finished the Undine story in 2007 with the third book, Drift.
Other Works and Studies
Penni Russon has also written three novels in the Girlfriend Fiction series. One of these books was written with another author, Kate Constable. In 2007, she released Josie and the Michael Street Kids. This book was nominated for the 2009 Children's Peace Literature Award. This award recognizes books that promote peace. In 2020, she completed her PhD. Her research looked at how comics can help young people with their mental health.
