Penny on M.A.R.S. is a fun Italian TV show for teens. It's a mix of comedy and drama, also called a "dramedy." The show first aired in Italy on Disney Channel on May 7, 2018.
This series is a spin-off from another Italian show called Alex & Co. It was made by 3Zero2 and The Walt Disney Company Italy. The show also premiered in the United Kingdom on June 4, 2018. It ran for three seasons, with the final season airing in 2020.

What is Penny on M.A.R.S. About?
Penny is a talented girl who dreams of attending M.A.R.S. This stands for the Music Arts Reiner School. It's a very special and competitive school for performing arts. Students there have to pass tests every day.
Penny has a big secret. She is the daughter of Bakìa, a famous pop star. Bakìa wanted Penny to have a normal childhood. So, she sent Penny to a boarding school in Switzerland. Nobody knew Penny was Bakìa's daughter.
Now, Penny wants to follow her own dreams. She wants to go to M.A.R.S. and prove her talent. She uses a fake name to get in. She doesn't want her mother's fame to help her.
Penny's School Life and Secrets
Penny's best friend, Camilla, is the only one at M.A.R.S. who knows her secret. They are like sisters and think nothing can break their bond. But things get complicated when they both fall for the same boy, Sebastian. He is a charming student at the school.
While Penny works hard to achieve her musical dreams, she also has a personal mystery to solve. She wants to find out who her father is. The show follows Penny's journey through school, friendships, romance, and solving family secrets.

How the Show Was Made
In April 2017, Disney Channel Italy announced plans for Penny on M.A.R.S. It was created as a spin-off from their popular show Alex & Co. The new show was filmed in English. This was done so it could be sold and watched in more countries around the world.
Some characters from Penny on M.A.R.S. even appeared in the final episodes of Alex & Co. This helped introduce the new series to viewers. The show's title, Penny on M.A.R.S., was officially announced in June 2017.
Filming Locations
Filming for the first season started in September 2017 and finished in December 2017. The show was filmed in Milan, Italy, and the areas nearby. The building used for the M.A.R.S. school is actually part of the Polytechnic University of Milan.
