Penrod is a small place in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, in the United States. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that don't have their own local government, like a city or town does. Instead, it is part of the larger county.
History
Penrod has a simple but interesting history. The community got its name from a person named H. C. Penrod. He was an early postmaster in the area. A post office was first opened here in 1885. This post office helped people send and receive letters and packages for many years. It stayed open for over a century, finally closing its doors in 1994.
