José Vicente "Pepu" Hernández Fernández (born on February 11, 1958) is a famous Spanish former basketball coach. He is known for leading basketball teams to big wins.

Pepu Hernández: A Winning Basketball Coach

Pepu Hernández has had a very successful career as a basketball coach. He has coached both club teams and the Spanish national team.

Coaching Club Teams

Pepu Hernández spent many years coaching the Estudiantes basketball club. He helped them achieve great things.

  • In 2000, his team won the Spanish Cup, which is a major tournament in Spain.
  • In 2004, he was named the AEEB Spanish Coach of the Year. This award recognized him as the best coach in Spain that year.
  • His team also finished second in the Spanish League in 2004 and was a runner-up in the FIBA Korać Cup in 1999.

Leading the Spanish National Team

From 2006 to 2008, Pepu Hernández was the head coach for the senior Spain men's national basketball team. This was a very important role.
