Pere Comte (also known as Pere Compte) was a famous Spanish architect. He was born in Girona and died in 1506. Pere Comte was one of the most important Gothic architects of his time. He worked a lot in the region of Valencia. There, he led the building of many grand palaces and other structures. People consider him a master of the special style called Valencian Gothic art.

The Llotja de la Seda

One of his most famous works is the Llotja de la Seda (Silk Exchange) in Valencia. He worked on this building from 1483 to 1498. It was a place where merchants traded silk and other goods. The Llotja is a UNESCO World Heritage site today. It shows off the amazing skill of Gothic builders.

Pere Comte also worked on many other significant buildings:

Working for the Borgia Family

Pere Comte was also hired by the powerful house of Borgia family. He worked for them at the Monastery of Sant Jeroni de Cotalba. This monastery is near Gandia in Valencia. There, he created beautiful sculptures for the upper cloister. He also designed a special Gothic staircase. He also worked on the Collegiate Basilica of Gandia for them.
