Pere Esteve i Abad was a Spanish politician from Catalonia. He was born on December 26, 1942, and passed away on June 10, 2005. He was part of a political group called Catalunya 2003, which no longer exists.
Pere Esteve became the Minister of Trade, Tourism, and Consumer Affairs for the Catalan regional Government. He was chosen by the Republican Left of Catalonia (ERC) party. He ran in the regional elections in 2003. In October 2004, he stepped down from his role because of health issues.

About Pere Esteve's Life
Pere Esteve was an Industrial Engineer. He studied at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). He also taught subjects like Electronics.
Besides teaching, he worked as a director in private companies. He was also involved with industrial businesses and consulting firms. Pere Esteve wrote several papers and a book. The book was called Estratègia per Catalunya, which means Strategy for Catalonia.
Pere Esteve's Community Work
From 1965 to 1968, Pere Esteve was active in youth groups. He also participated in Christian movements. In 1974, he joined a group called Amics de Tiana (Friends of Tiana). He left this group the following year.
He was the President of the Industrial Engineers Association of Catalonia. This association is known as the Associació d’Enginyers Industrial de Catalunya. He also helped start and lead two other organizations, ICT and ICICT.
Pere Esteve's Political Career
Pere Esteve joined the political party Convergència Democràtica de Catalunya (CDC) in 1976. He served as a town councillor in Tiana. He was also a national advisor for CDC. From 1996 to 2000, he was the spokesperson and General Secretary of CDC. He also led the Fundació Ramon Trias Fargas, a foundation.
On September 25, 2002, he resigned from all his positions. He then left the CDC party. On November 27, 2003, he helped create the Associació Catalunya 2003. After that, he joined the Republican Left of Catalonia (ERC) party.
Important Public Roles
Pere Esteve held several important public positions:
- He was a town councillor in Tiana from 1979 to 1985. He represented the Convergence and Union (CiU) party.
- He served as a Deputy in the Catalan Parliament from 1992 to 1995. During this time, he was also the President of its Trade commission. He was part of the CiU party.
- From 1999 to 2002, he was a Deputy in the European Parliament. He represented CiU there as well.
- In the 2003 elections, he was elected as a Deputy in the Catalan Parliament for the Republican Left of Catalonia (ERC) party. He later resigned from this role to become a Minister in the Catalan regional Government.
