About Peron's Tree Frog
This amazing frog can grow up to 6.0 cm long. It likes to live in different places. You might find it in forests, grassy areas, or even swamps.
Sometimes, these frogs are seen far away from where they usually live, like in northwestern Australia. Experts from Frogwatch SA think this happens because people keep them as pets. Then, the frogs might escape or get set free.
What They Look Like
Peron's tree frogs are pretty cool because they can change their color! During the day, they are usually gray-green. But when night comes, they turn a reddish-brown color and get green spots. They also have cool black and yellow patterns on their legs.
These frogs look a lot like another frog called Tyler's tree frog. It can be hard to tell them apart just by looking. But scientists have a trick: they listen to their voices! Each frog has a unique call that helps scientists know which one is which.
Life Cycle and Reproduction
Peron's tree frogs lay their eggs in water. They often choose temporary pools or puddles that might dry up later. The baby frogs, called tadpoles, are yellow and have stripes on their bodies. They grow and change until they become adult frogs.
