Peter Groeger's Early Life and Career
Peter Groeger grew up in a town called Gröbzig. He started his career in theater, working as an assistant director at the famous Deutsches Theater in Berlin. After studying directing in Moscow, he joined the radio station in East Germany. There, he became the Head of International Radio Drama. This meant he was in charge of many radio plays from other countries.
Peter Groeger became very famous for his many radio plays. He was also well-known as the voice of the character Quark. Quark was a bartender in the popular science fiction show Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Acting Roles in Television and Commercials
From 1973 to 1978, Peter Groeger played the character Roloff in the TV series Das unsichtbare Visier. He appeared in the first 14 episodes of this show. In 1996, he was seen in the TV series Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten as Richard Graf.
From 1998 to 2002, he played a character called Dr. Iron Wire in commercials for the fuel station chain DEA. He returned to this role in 2009 for commercials for the energy company RWE. From 1998 to 2007, he also played the director Schwalbe in the TV series Anja & Anton.
Voice Acting and Radio Plays
Peter Groeger was a very busy voice actor. Since 2004, he was the voice of Dr. Watson in the Sherlock Holmes radio plays. He worked alongside Christian Rode, who voiced Sherlock Holmes.
Fantasy fans might know his voice as the Dwarf Forgrimm from the computer games The Dark Eye: Drakensang and Drakensang: The River of Time. He was also the narrator for the Drakensang radio plays. Starting in 2009, he voiced some smaller roles in the Radio Tatort series for the MDR radio station.

Since 2007, Peter Groeger was part of the Berlin Criminal Theatre group. He performed in several plays there. Some of his roles included parts in Arsenic and Old Lace, The Name of the Rose, and Inspector Campbell's Last Case.
