Early Life and Education
Peter McReynolds was born in Belfast in 1987. His parents are Leonard and Helen McReynolds. He went to St Malachy's College for his schooling.
After that, he studied at Queen's University Belfast. In 2009, he earned a degree in French and Linguistics. Later, in 2012, he got another degree in Human Rights Law.
Political Journey
Starting in Politics (2014-2022)
Peter McReynolds first tried to become a local council member in 2014. He ran for the Oldpark area in Belfast City Council. He was a candidate for the Alliance Party but was not elected that time.
Later, in 2016, he joined the Belfast City Council for the Ormiston area. This happened when another member, Mervyn Jones, passed away. Peter McReynolds was chosen to take his place. This is called being "co-opted."
In 2019, Peter McReynolds was elected to the Belfast City Council for Ormiston. He received many votes and was chosen on the first count. From 2020 to 2021, he served as the Deputy Lord Mayor of Belfast.
Becoming an MLA (2022-Present)
In the 2022 Northern Ireland Assembly election, Peter McReynolds was elected as an MLA. He became a member for the Belfast East area. He received a good number of votes.
He took over the seat from another Alliance Party MLA, Chris Lyttle, who had decided to retire. As an MLA, Peter McReynolds helps make laws and decisions for Northern Ireland.
