Moses Barrett III (born July 22, 1973), known by his stage name Petey Pablo, is an American rapper and music producer. He is from Greenville, North Carolina. Petey Pablo is famous for his hit song "Freek-a-Leek" from 2003. This song reached number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It also sold enough copies to be certified platinum.

Before that, he signed with Jive Records. In 2001, he released "Raise Up" with Timbaland. This song was a tribute to his hometown, Greenville. It reached number 25 on the music charts. Jive Records released his first two albums. These were Diary of a Sinner: 1st Entry (2001) and Still Writing in My Diary: 2nd Entry (2004). His first album was nominated for a Best Rap Album Grammy Award. His second album reached number four on the Billboard 200 chart.

His Music Journey

First Album Success (2001–2002)

After signing with Jive Records, Petey Pablo began making his first album. His first song, "Raise Up", came out in the summer of 2001. Timbaland produced this song. "Raise Up" became popular on MTV and urban radio stations. It reached number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Pablo's first album was called Diary of a Sinner: 1st Entry. It reached number 13 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album was also certified Gold. This means it sold over 500,000 copies.

Continued Hits and Break (2003–2006)

In early 2003, Diary of a Sinner: 1st Entry was nominated for a Grammy Award. It was nominated for Best Rap Album. However, it did not win the award.

Petey Pablo's success continued with his second album. It was called Still Writing in My Diary: 2nd Entry. He started working on it in 2003. This album was very popular. It reached number 4 on the Billboard 200 chart. It was also certified Gold.

The main song from this album was "Freek-a-Leek". Lil Jon produced this song. It became Petey Pablo's biggest hit. It reached number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2004, Petey Pablo also appeared on Ciara's hit song "Goodies". That song reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. After his second album, Petey Pablo took a break from music.

Returning to Music (2010–Present)

After leaving Jive Records, Petey Pablo started his own music company. It is an independent record label called Carolina Music Group. In July 2010, he released a song called "Go". Timbaland also produced this song. In September 2011, Petey Pablo released another song. It was called "Get Low" and was available on iTunes.

While he was away for a period, Petey Pablo released a mixtape. It was called Carolina #1 in February 2012. He also confirmed he was working on his third album. This album is called A&R: Anticipated Recordings. The release date for this album is not yet known.

Later Music Releases

In late 2015, Pablo released a new song. It was titled "Never Imagined".

On January 17, 2016, Petey Pablo released another new song. It was called "Carolina Colors". He released it after the Carolina Panthers won a football game. The song was used to excite fans for an important football game.

Acting Roles

Petey Pablo has also had an acting career. In 2002, he appeared in the movie Drumline. He played himself in the film. He performed several of his songs in the movie.

In 2005, Petey Pablo was a guest on the TV show The Shield. He appeared in an episode called "A Thousand Deaths". In 2009, he was in the movie Just Another Day. In this film, he played a character named B-Bone.
