About the Petite rivière Bellevue

Where Does It Start and Flow?

The Petite rivière Bellevue begins in a farming area. This spot is on the east side of chemin du rang Bellevue in Sainte-Victoire-de-Sorel.

From its start, the river flows for about 7.8 kilometres (4.8 mi) (which is about 4.8 miles). It mainly goes through farmland. The river drops about 6 metres (20 ft) (20 feet) from its source to its end.

Here's how the river flows:

  • It travels 3.0 kilometres (1.9 mi) (1.9 miles) towards the south. It crosses the Montée Sainte-Victoire road. Then it meets the Décharge des Dix-Huit, which flows in from the east.
  • Next, it flows 2.9 kilometres (1.8 mi) (1.8 miles) to the west. Here, it meets the Décharge des Terres Noires, which comes from the north.
  • Finally, it goes 1.9 kilometres (1.2 mi) (1.2 miles) to the southwest. It crosses the chemin du Rang Prescott before reaching its mouth.

The Petite rivière Bellevue ends by joining the north side of the Lemoine River. The Lemoine River then flows north to the rivière Pot au Beurre. This river is a branch of the Yamaska River, which eventually flows into the Saint Lawrence River.

What's in a Name?
