Petra Smaržová was born in Valašské Meziříčí on June 4, 1990. This town was part of Czechoslovakia at the time. She is a talented person who can speak three languages: English, German, and her native Slovak.

Petra began her exciting skiing career at the World Championships in Austria in 2002. This was the start of her journey as a competitive skier.

At the 2011 IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships, Petra showed her talent. She finished second in both the women's slalom and giant slalom races. These were standing events, meaning she competed while standing on her skis.
