Pets Win Prizes was a fun game show from the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) in the United Kingdom. It aired on Saturday nights on BBC 1 from July 16, 1994, to August 3, 1996. The show was first hosted by Danny Baker. Later, Dale Winton took over as the host for the second and third series.

Pet Challenges

In the first part of the show, pets competed in fun challenges. These games tested their skills and how agile they were. Depending on the animal, the challenges could be anything from snail racing to dog pool. If a pet won its game, its owner got to choose between two envelopes. One envelope held a prize for the owner, and the other had a prize for their pet!

The Quick Quiz

The final round was a fast-paced, three-minute quiz. Owners had to answer trivia questions about animals. For every correct answer, a cardboard picture of their animal moved along a race track. The goal was to get five correct answers to reach the end of the track. The first player to finish, or the one with the most correct answers after three minutes, won the game.

The Professor's Prize

The main prize for the winner was decided by a special cat named "The Professor." The Professor was placed in the middle of a board shaped like a hexagon. This board had six different sections, and each section had a different prize. After 30 seconds, the owner won the prize from the section where The Professor's front paws were resting.

Who Hosted the Show?

The first series of Pets Win Prizes was presented by Danny Baker. After the first series, Danny Baker left the show. He was replaced by Dale Winton, who had become very popular from hosting another game show called Supermarket Sweep. Dale Winton then hosted the show for its second and third series.
