This means she helped make important decisions about farming land.

Early Life and Learning

Phebe Mann's father was involved with Scouting, which is a group that helps young people learn skills and build character. Phebe herself has studied a lot! She earned a master's degree in Computer Science from Hughes Hall, Cambridge.

She was also part of the very first group of students at the University of Cambridge to study "Interdisciplinary Design for the Built Environment." This means she learned how to design buildings and spaces by combining ideas from many different subjects. She completed another master's degree in 1985 at Loughborough University. Phebe also has a law degree from the University of Buckingham and other master's degrees from the University of Surrey, Reading University, and the Open University.

Her Work and Achievements

Phebe Mann has made huge contributions to both engineering and legal education. She was the first woman to be chosen as the leader of the Leicester Centre for the Chartered Institute of Building. This group helps people who work in construction.

As an engineer, Phebe worked on many important building projects. She helped with construction for the City of Westminster and Cambridge City Council. She also worked on big road projects like the Stump Cross for Four Went Ways, the A1 road, and an area called Little Venice in London.

In 2011, Phebe won the "Tomorrow’s Leader" Award from the WISE Campaign. This award celebrates women who are making a big difference in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). She was also a member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn, which is a place where lawyers train and work.

In 2018, Phebe was studying to become a barrister, which is a type of lawyer who represents people in court. She was doing this at City, University of London. She also works as a consultant for the Open University and teaches at the University of Reading. In 2013, she was made an Honorary Fellow of Bradford College, which is a special recognition for her achievements.

Phebe Mann is known as a "Talent2030 Hero." This title is given to people who inspire young women to pursue careers in engineering and manufacturing. A portrait of Phebe was painted in 2012 after she won the "Tomorrow's Leader" award, and she gave it to Bradford College. In 2018, she was named one of the "Top 50 Influential Women in Engineering" in the United Kingdom.

Phebe is also a leader with the Guide Association, which is similar to Girl Scouts. She creates fun activities based on engineering to help girls build their confidence and learn new skills.
