How Phil Got Its Name
Phil used to have its own post office, but it's not open anymore. The community got its name from a man named F. P. Combest. He was the very first postmaster there. Mr. Combest named the community after his favorite politician, U.S. Representative Phil Thompson.
Phil Thompson was a person who worked in the United States government. He was elected by people to represent them in the United States House of Representatives. This is one of the two main parts of the United States Congress, where laws are made for the whole country.
