Early Life and Education

Philip Jansen was born in January 1967 in the United Kingdom. He went to St George's College, Weybridge for school. Later, he studied economics at University College Cardiff.

His Career Journey

In 2010, Jansen became the CEO of Brakes Group. Before that, he was the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Sodexo.

Leading Worldpay

In April 2013, Philip Jansen became the CEO of Worldpay. This company helps businesses process payments. In 2015, Worldpay became a public company, which means its shares could be bought and sold on the stock market. This is called an IPO. Jansen left Worldpay at the end of 2018.

Becoming BT's CEO

On October 25, 2018, it was announced that Philip Jansen would be the new CEO of BT. He started this important role on February 1, 2019. He took over from the previous CEO, Gavin Patterson.

During his time as CEO of BT, there was a disagreement with the CWU. This union represents many BT workers. The disagreement was about pay and working conditions. This led to a vote where many BT, Openreach, and EE workers decided to go on strike. A strike is when workers stop working to protest.

In July 2023, BT announced that Jansen would be leaving his role as CEO within the next year. He officially stepped down in January 2024.

About His Family

Philip Jansen is married and has five children. He lives with his family in west London.
