Philippa Coningsby facts for kids

Philippa Coningsby (born Fitzwilliam) was an important English lady who lived a long life in the 1500s and early 1600s. She was the daughter of William FitzWilliam, who was a very important government official. Philippa was born in Milton.
Philippa married Sir Thomas Coningsby. Together, they had 11 children!
Her Life and Homes
As the wife of Sir Thomas Coningsby, Philippa lived in two main places. These were Leominster and Hampton Court, Herefordshire. At Hampton Court, you can still see their initials, "TCP," carved in different spots around the home. This shows how much they loved their home.
Sir Thomas Coningsby once wrote a letter to Sir Robert Cecil, another important person. In the letter, he mentioned that Philippa was his "near kinswoman," meaning they were related.
In 1617, a cousin of her husband, Joyce Jeffreys, came to live with Philippa. Joyce was born at Ham Castle near Clifton-upon-Teme. She became a "perpetual companion" to Philippa, meaning she stayed with her all the time.
Her Later Years
While some old records say Philippa Coningsby died in 1596, she actually lived much longer. She was alive into the 1620s. She was buried in a place called Hope under Dinmore.
