Philippe Panneton (also known by his pen name, Ringuet) was a talented Canadian. He was a doctor, a university teacher, a diplomat, and a writer. He was born on April 30, 1895, in Trois-Rivières, Quebec. He passed away on December 28, 1960, in Lisbon, Portugal.

Philippe Panneton was born in Trois-Rivières, Quebec. He studied medicine at Université Laval. He earned his medical degree in 1920.

A Career in Academia and Diplomacy

In 1935, Panneton became a professor. He taught at the Université de Montréal. He also helped start an important group. This group was called L'Académie canadienne-française. It is now known as the Académie des lettres du Québec. He was its president from 1947 to 1953.

In 1956, he became an ambassador to Portugal. An ambassador is a country's official representative in another country. He lived in Lisbon, Portugal, until he passed away in 1960.

Awards and Recognition

Philippe Panneton was a respected writer. In 1959, he received the Lorne Pierce Medal. This award recognizes important literary works in Canada.
