Phillip Brett, born in 1991, is a politician from Northern Ireland. He is a member of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP). Since 2022, he has been a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Belfast North. As an MLA, he helps make decisions for Northern Ireland. Phillip Brett is also the DUP's spokesperson for the economy. He leads the Committee for the Economy at the Northern Ireland Assembly.

Phillip Brett's Political Journey
Starting in Local Government
Phillip Brett began his political career in local government. He was first elected to the Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council in 2014. He represented the Glengormley Urban area. He was re-elected to the council in 2019, continuing to serve his local community.
Becoming an MLA
In the 2022 Northern Ireland Assembly election, Phillip Brett was elected as an MLA. He now represents the Belfast North area. He is one of two DUP MLAs from that area.
Running for UK Parliament
In May 2024, Phillip Brett decided to run for a seat in the UK Parliament. He wanted to represent Belfast North in the 2024 general election. He said he wanted to provide full-time representation for North Belfast. In the election, he received 12,062 votes. He came in second place to the current MP, Sinn Féin's John Finucane.
