Phillip County is a special area of land in New South Wales, Australia. It was one of the first 19 areas officially set up when the colony was new. Today, it is one of 141 "cadastral divisions." These are like official land zones used for maps and property records.
This county is located east of the towns of Mudgee and Gulgong. The Cudgegong River forms its border to the south-west. The Goulburn River marks its northern edge.
Phillip County was named after Admiral Arthur Phillip. He was the very first Governor of New South Wales. From 1856 to 1859, this area was part of the first voting district called the Electoral district of Phillip, Brisbane and Bligh. An electoral district is an area where people vote for their representatives in government.
