The Story of Thailand's Anthem
How the Music Was Made
The music for Thailand's national anthem was created in 1932. A talented Thai musician named Phra Chenduriyang composed it. When it was first adopted, the song had no words. It was just music.
Adding the Official Lyrics
Later, in 1939, Thailand changed its name. Before, it was known as "Siam". After the change, the country became "Thailand". To celebrate this, a competition was held to find official lyrics (words) for the anthem. The words written by Luang Saranupraphan won this competition. His lyrics were then made the official words for the national anthem.
