PieLab is a unique restaurant located in Greensboro, Alabama. It's well-known for its amazing pies! But PieLab is more than just a place to grab a sweet treat. It's also a creative design studio and a cooking school.
The Story of PieLab
PieLab first opened its doors in 2009. It was started by a group of designers from Belfast, Maine. They called themselves "Project M." These young graphic designers wanted to make a positive difference. They decided to use their skills to help the community.
A Place for Change
The idea behind PieLab was to create social change. It combined tasty food with creative design. The restaurant was set up in an old, unused pool hall. This helped bring new life to the building.
Pies That Help People
PieLab's delicious pies are famous. Their "Empire Apple Pie" has received special attention. Southern Living magazine featured it in their "The South's Best Pies" series. Food & Wine magazine also praised the apple pie. They noted that the money earned from the bakery helps people. These profits go towards providing housing and temporary shelters. This support is for people in Hale County, Alabama.
