Pierre Hermé (born November 20, 1961) is a famous French pastry chef and chocolatier. He started learning his craft at just 14 years old, working with the well-known chef Gaston Lenôtre. People often call him "the Picasso of Pastry" because of his amazing creations. In 2016, he was named the World's Best Pastry Chef. He also ranked as one of the most influential French people in the world. In 1998, Pierre Hermé started his own brand with Charles Znaty. He has written or helped write more than 40 books about desserts.

Pierre Hermé's Journey to Success

Pierre Hermé comes from a family of bakers and pastry makers in Alsace, France. He moved to Paris when he was 14 to begin his first apprenticeship. This is like an internship where you learn a skill from an expert.

In 1998, Pierre Hermé and his partner Charles Znaty created their own company, Maison Pierre Hermé Paris. Their first shop opened in Tokyo, Japan, in 1998. Then, in 2001, they opened a shop in Paris, France. Both shops quickly became very popular. People loved trying Hermé's delicious pastries, macarons, and chocolates.

More shops opened in Tokyo and Paris over the years. In 2008, they launched special Macarons & Chocolats boutiques. The company has grown a lot since 2010. You can now find Pierre Hermé boutiques in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Since 2012, his amazing desserts have even been served on All Nippon Airways flights.

Pierre Hermé was the youngest person ever to be named France's Pastry Chef of the Year. He is also the only pastry chef to receive the title of Chevalier of Arts and Letters. This is a special honor from the French government for people who have made important contributions to art and literature. In 2007, he was also awarded the Chevalier de la Légion d'honneur. This is France's highest award.

In October 2023, Pierre Hermé started an online class. In this class, he teaches people how to make some of his most famous pastries.
