Pierrette Bloch was born in Paris on June 16, 1928. In 1939, she and her parents moved to Switzerland. They left France to escape the war. When she was 15, Pierrette started living on her own in a hotel. She said this helped her become very independent.
In the late 1940s, she began her art training in Paris. She studied with famous artists like Henri Goetz and André Lhote.
Artistic Career
Pierrette Bloch started showing her art in the 1950s. Her works were displayed in Paris and the United States. She liked to use simple, everyday materials. These included ink, paper, mesh, and even horsehair. Horsehair became a key part of her art in the 1970s. Her first sculpture using horsehair was made in 1979.
