Pikogan is a special place in Quebec, Canada. It's an Indian reserve, which means it's land set aside for the Abitibiwinni First Nation. The Abitibiwinni First Nation is a group of Indigenous people who have lived in this area for a very long time.
About Pikogan
Pikogan is located in a region of Quebec called Abitibi-Témiscamingue. It's a small community right next to the Harricana River. In 2021, about 540 people lived there. Pikogan is also considered part of the larger town area of Amos.
How Pikogan Started
The Pikogan reserve was officially created on March 13, 1956. This happened when the Government of Quebec bought the land for the community. Building the village started a couple of years later, on March 10, 1958. The entire area of Pikogan is about one square kilometre, which is quite small.
