Pilar Acosta Martínez was born to José Acosta and Presenta Martínez. Both of her parents were teachers. From a young age, Pilar loved to learn. She went to school in Tíjola at a college run by nuns. Later, she finished her high school studies in Almería, Madrid, and Granada by 1954.
Her Studies and Discoveries
Pilar went on to study history at the University of Granada. She was a very good student and even won an award for her studies between 1954 and 1960. Her main teacher, Professor Alfonso Gámiz Sandoval, helped her with her final project. She wrote about the history and geography of her hometown, Tíjola. She earned top honors for this work.
