Discovering Pilgrims Knob

Pilgrims Knob has a simple but interesting history. It's a place that grew over time thanks to the people who settled there.

Early Settlers and Naming

The first person to settle in this area was Milton Ward. He arrived in 1833, making him one of the very first residents. For many years, the area didn't have a specific name.

The name "Pilgrims Knob" came much later, in 1938. That's when the first post office was opened. Thomas Ward, who was a descendant of Milton Ward, was in charge of this new post office. His wife suggested the name "Pilgrim Knob." She chose this name to honor the brave pioneers, or "pilgrims," who first settled the area and worked hard to build a community there.
