What is a Municipality?
A municipality is like a local government area. It includes a main town or village and the land around it. Pinós is both a village and the name of its municipality. The municipality of Pinós covers about 104.3 square kilometers. It even has a small part of land that is separate from the main area, called an exclave. This small piece of land is located to the north-east.

One of the most interesting facts about Pinós is its claim to be the geographical center of Catalonia. This means it is thought to be the middle point of the entire region! To celebrate this, a special plaque has been placed on the ground in the village. It marks the spot believed to be the true center.
