Pirkka-Pekka Petelius (born on May 31, 1953) is a well-known Finnish actor. He has also worked as a director, producer, and screenwriter. Besides his acting career, he has released six music albums as a singer.
Petelius also spent some time as a politician. He was a member of the Green League party. In 2019, he was chosen to be part of the Finnish Parliament. This is where laws are made for the country. He is not a member of the parliament anymore.

A Star is Born: Comedy Breakthrough
Pirkka-Pekka Petelius first became famous with a TV show called Velipuolikuu. This was a sketch comedy series from 1983. He helped write the show and also acted in it.
The show became very popular. This helped Petelius become one of Finland's most famous comedians. He gained huge popularity with another sketch series, Pulttibois. He starred in this show and its follow-up, Manitbois, with his friend Aake Kalliala.
Beyond Comedy: Serious Acting Roles
Even though he is known for comedy, Petelius has also played many serious roles. He has acted in several films and TV shows that are not comedies. For example, he played the character Hietanen in Rauni Mollberg's movie The Unknown Soldier (1985).
Other important movies he has been in include Aki Kaurismäki's Hamlet Goes Business (1986). He also appeared in Åke Lindman's Lapin kullan kimallus (1999). Another notable film was Peter Lindholm's Drakarna över Helsingfors (2001).

Pirkka-Pekka Petelius also lent his voice to a famous animated character. He was the Finnish voice of Timon in the movie Leijonakuningas (The Lion King). This popular film came out in 1994.
