Pisgah is a small place in Woodford County, Kentucky. It's called an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city. It doesn't have its own local government like a mayor or city council. Instead, it's part of the larger county.

The Story of Pisgah: A Look at Its Past

Early Settlers and a Special Name

The first people to settle in Pisgah arrived in 1784. They were a group, or "colony," from the state of Virginia. These early settlers chose a special name for their new home. The name "Pisgah" comes from Mount Pisgah. This is a mountain mentioned in an ancient religious book called the Hebrew Bible.

Important Buildings and Changes Over Time

An important local building is the Pisgah Presbyterian Church. It was first started in the same year the settlers arrived, 1784. The church building you see today was built a bit later, in 1812.

Many years later, in 1888, a railroad line was built to reach Pisgah. This made it easier for people and goods to travel. A post office was also opened in Pisgah in 1890. This office helped people send and receive mail. It stayed open for many years, until 1931.
