Placid, Texas facts for kids
Placid is a small, quiet community located in McCulloch County, Texas, in the United States. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a place where people live together, but it doesn't have its own official city government or mayor, unlike a town or a city. Instead, it's usually managed by the county it's in.
The Story of Placid
The community of Placid was given its name because the area was very peaceful and calm when it was first settled. The word "placid" itself means quiet, calm, or tranquil.
A post office was opened in Placid in 1908. This was an important place for people to send and receive mail, connecting them to the outside world. The post office served the community for many years, finally closing its doors in 1965.
