Plains was a small community that no longer exists today. It was located in Madera County, California, in the United States. This area is known for its beautiful landscapes and history.

Where Was Plains Located?

Plains was situated about 2 miles (3.2 kilometers) southwest of another place called Tillman. It was found along the route of the Southern Pacific Railroad. This railroad was very important for travel and moving goods across the country.

Elevation of Plains

The land where Plains once stood was not very high above sea level. Its elevation was about 174 feet (53 meters). This means it was in a relatively flat area, which is common for places near old railroad lines.

What is a Former Settlement?

When we say Plains was a "former settlement," it means it was once a populated place, like a town or a small village, but it is no longer inhabited. People used to live and work there, but over time, everyone moved away, or the community simply faded.
