Plant is a small, quiet place in Van Buren County, Arkansas, United States. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it does not have its own local government, like a city or town.
History of Plant
A post office was opened in Plant in 1895. It helped people send and receive mail for many years. However, the post office closed down in 1954. Over time, the building disappeared due to decay. No one is quite sure why this community was named "Plant."
Today, the only building that still carries the community's name is the Plant Baptist Church and Cemetery. You can find it about 4.9 miles east of U.S. Route 65. It is located on the north side of Arkansas Highway 110.
What People Do in Plant
The main activity in Plant is raising cattle. This is also called cattle husbandry. It means people raise cows for their meat or milk. The area is also popular for hunting. Many people come here to hunt animals like whitetail deer, turkey, and squirrel.
Children who live in Plant go to school in the Clinton School District. This school district is about nineteen miles south of the community.
