The Story of Plattsville
Plattsville got its start a long time ago, in 1844. This was when the area was "platted," which means someone drew up a map showing where the streets and building lots would be. The community was named after a local person named John Platt.
A post office opened in Plattsville in 1854. This was an important place for people to send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for many years, until it closed down in 1901.
