History of Plaucheville
Plaucheville was first started in 1803. It was founded by three brothers: Etienne, François, and Martin Visitant Plauché. They discovered the area during a boat trip. They traveled along several bayous, including Bayou Choupique, which they named.
Their father, Judge Joseph Alexander Plauché, was the first person to live in the village. He was also a Major General in the Battle of New Orleans. His brother, Jean Baptiste Plauché, was also a Major General. Judge Plauché helped survey, or map out, the area of Avoyelles Parish.
