PlayStation VR

The PlayStation VR (often called PSVR) is a special headset that lets you step into virtual reality worlds! It works with your PlayStation 4 console. Sony Interactive Entertainment, the company that makes PlayStation, created the PSVR. It first came out on October 13, 2016.

To use the PSVR, you also need a PlayStation Camera. This camera helps the system know where you are moving in the room. By the end of 2019, over 5 million PSVR headsets had been sold around the world.

What is PlayStation VR?

The PlayStation VR is a type of virtual reality headset. This means it's a device you wear on your head, like a pair of goggles. It has screens inside that show you a 3D world. When you move your head, the view in the game moves too, making you feel like you are really inside the game!

This headset was made specifically for the PlayStation 4. It lets you play games and experience videos in a whole new way. Instead of just looking at a TV screen, you are surrounded by the game's environment.

How PlayStation VR Works

To make the PSVR work, you need a few things. First, you need a PlayStation 4 console. Then, you connect the PSVR headset to your PS4. A very important part is the PlayStation Camera. This camera watches the lights on your PSVR headset and PlayStation Move controllers (if you use them). This helps the PS4 understand your movements.

When you turn your head, the PSVR knows exactly where you are looking. This makes the virtual world feel very real. It's like magic, but it's actually clever technology!

Technical Details for Gamers

The PSVR uses a special screen called an OLED display. This screen shows clear and colorful images. It has a resolution of 1080p, which means the pictures are very detailed.

The headset can show images at different speeds, called framerates. These can be 60, 90, or 120 times per second (Hz). A higher framerate makes the game look smoother. The PSVR also has very low latency, which means there's almost no delay between your movement and what you see. This helps prevent you from feeling dizzy.
